How do I place a call?

If you find yourself with an unexpected illness and are unable to visit your usual GP during surgery hours, first contact your surgery and if they are a member of our deputising service, they will be able to arrange a home visit if necessary. When your surgery is closed, however, and it's not an emergency, don't wait at the hospital, let us come to you at home - simply call us direct on 9321 9133.

Our telephone operators will firstly triage your call and then quickly arrange for one of our locum doctors to visit you, providing the convenience of being seen by a doctor in the comfort of your own home or care facility as required (i.e. nursing home, hostel, group home etc).

Our telephone staff are not able to give you medical advice
but if they conclude that a home visit may not be suitable for your circumstances, they will advise you of the appropriate action to take.

When you place a call with Doctor Home Visits, please have the following details on hand as the telephone operator will ask you for them:

  • The name of your regular General Practitioner or Medical Centre
  • Medicare or DVA (gold card) number
  • Pension or Health Care Card number (if applicable)
  • Patient’s first and surname
  • Patient’s date of birth
  • Patient’s address where the doctor will visit & telephone number
  • Brief details of the patient’s symptoms

Whilst you are waiting for the doctor, please turn on a light if it is dark and ensure all pets are securely restrained.

At any time, please do not hesitate to contact us as we are here to help you in any way we can.
